Are you a bride or groom planning a Detroit wedding? Your wedding day will be a tremendous moment in you and your partner’s lives and I know you want your big day to be perfect! Feel free to use LoveintheD to get ideas and inspiration as you plan your own wedding. This blog will highlight weddings in the city that incorporate Detroit themes, with a particular focus on weddings that support vendors who are community-friendly, LGBT-friendly, worker-friendly, or environmentally friendly.  I will also occasionally post about Detroit issues and events from a framework of “lovin’ the D.”

About the blogger

Hello there! My name is Stephanie Gray Chang. I married my husband, Sean Gray, on October 14, 2011. I enjoyed planning our Detroit wedding and, of course, had lots of fun on our wedding day! However, through the planning process, I realized that I wasn’t having much luck on mainstream wedding planning websites finding many vendors based in the city or vendors owned by women of color. I also wished that I had started thinking earlier in the process about making the wedding a socially responsible one.

After the big day, I had some thoughts about starting a Detroit wedding blog. A year and some change later… here we are!

When I’m not blogging, I enjoy being a graduate student at the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy and School of Social Work, supporting various social justice efforts in Michigan, taking walks with Sean, and adoring the kitties.
